Puri

The coastal city of Puri in the state of Odisha is situated on the Bay of Bengal, 60 kilometers (37 mi) south of the state capital of Bhubaneswar. Also known as Jagannath Puri after the 12th-century Jagannatha Temple located in the city. It is one of the original Char Dham pilgrimage sites for Hindus. Ratha Yatra and its related festivals are renowned attractions that are attended by millions of people every year.

Sand art and applique art are some of the important crafts of the city.

Having gained popularity among hippies back in the 1970s due to the legalization of Bhang (a form of cannabis), Puri is still a popular destination among backpackers, however, the availability of bhang is now limited.

The Puri sea beach is a major attraction with its fantastic sea face view and golden sand, although the water is a bit rough. There are a lot of places near Puri that one must visit, like Chilika Lake, Puri Beach, Gundicha Ghar, and the very famous Sun temple of Konark.
