Located on the boundary of Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh, Sarchu is a small village on Leh – Manali highway. It is about 250 km from Leh and 220 km from Manali. The journey along the Manali-Leh highway at high altitudes and variable road conditions, normally takes two days, so travelers and tourists use this spot as an overnight stop. It is situated at an altitude of 4290 meters above sea level with Baralacha La to its south and Lachulung La to its north.

Travelers cannot access Sarchu during winter as the highway remains closed throughout this time. The route opens between the months of May and September when the snow melts. The place bears a resemblance to the barren splendor of Ladakh. The amazingly pristine nature will transfer you to the tranquil world of complete peace and solitude.
