Mysuru (Formerly Mysore) is the third-largest city in the state of Karnataka, which served as the capital city of the Princely Kingdom of Mysore for nearly six centuries. From 1399 until 1947 The Kingdom of Mysore was ruled by the Wodeyar dynasty. The palace is also the venue for the famous Dasara festival, thousands of tourists gather here during the festival season to watch the grand palace illuminated by thousands of lights.
