SUJÁN JAWAI sits at the foot of the Aravalli Hills in Pali district, Rajasthan, midway between Jodhpur and Udaipur, yet a world removed from both. Founded in 2013 by Jaisal and Anjali Singh, descendants of Indian royalty and lifelong conservationists, the camp was conceived as their most ambitious project: a place where guests could immerse themselves in one of India's most extraordinary wildlife landscapes while leaving the lightest possible footprint.
The result has earned every accolade the hospitality world has to offer. SUJÁN JAWAI is a member of Relais & Châteaux, holds Two MICHELIN Keys for an exceptional stay, and in 2024 became the first hotel in India to be ranked in The World's 50 Best Hotels list at number 43. But what sets the camp apart cannot be captured in awards alone. It is a quality of stillness: the silence of granite at dawn, the flash of a leopard on sunlit rock, a bush dinner beneath a sky unmarked by light pollution that makes SUJÁN JAWAI unlike anything else in the country.
Every tent at SUJÁN JAWAI is a study in refined restraint: contemporary interiors in a monochrome palette of grey, black, and white, punctuated by splashes of scarlet red that echo the Rabari herdsmen's turbans. Canvas, brushed steel, and leather replace marble and gilt. The effect is striking: luxury that belongs in this landscape rather than imposing upon it.
SUJÁN JAWAI is open from October through May, with the camp closing during the monsoon months (June–September). The peak season runs from October to March; the weather is mild, leopard activity is high, and migratory birds fill the dam. March to May is warmer but offers excellent visibility as wildlife concentrates near water.
A minimum two-night stay is recommended to experience the full rhythm of the camp: four safari drives, a cultural immersion, and time to simply be still in this remarkable landscape. Serious wildlife photographers and those seeking deeper engagement often stay three or four nights.
