Located in the upper reach of Kangra valley, the hill station of Dharamshala is a paradise for nature admirers with its pine and deodar forests, beautiful streams with waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and suburbs with British colonial touch, making it a perfect holiday destination. Dharamshala offers a lot of adventure activities as trekking, boating in the Dal lake, or just a stroll in the woods filled with oak, pine, and deodar forests. The snow line is more easily accessible at Dharamshala than any other hill station in India.
Dharamshala is also a popular destination among pilgrims of all religions as it is blessed with numerous beautiful temples, churches, and Buddhist monasteries. It also gained its popularity in 1959 after the arrival of the Dalai Lama with the Exiled Tibetan Government in the town of McLeod Gang. Following the 1959 Tibetan uprising, there was an influx of Tibetan refugees who followed the 14th Dalai Lama. His presence and the Tibetan population have made Dharamshala a destination for Indian and foreign tourists, including students studying Tibet.
