Village Khurad, Kukas, Tehsil - Amer, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India , 302028
Nestled just 30 minutes from Jaipur and set on 180 acres of rewilded scrubland near Amer Fort, Dera Amer Wilderness Camp offers a secluded luxury glamping experience surrounded by the Aravalli hills. Operated by the Singh family since the 1980s, the camp prioritizes conservation, local community engagement, and the well-being of its rescued elephants, Laxmi and Rangmala.
The camp features six colonial-style safari tents furnished with campaign-era furniture, comfortable king-size beds, ensuite bathrooms, Forest Essentials toiletries, plus heating and cooling systems. Despite its wilderness feel, it ensures modern comforts: private butlers, electricity, and hot showers—no minibar or spa, but plenty of wildlife.
Elephant sanctuary: Walk, feed, and bathe rescued elephants—no riding—under expert guidance.
Dining with wildlife: Enjoy al fresco meals or high tea with elephants wandering nearby, using fresh ingredients from the camp’s organic farm.
Village immersion: Guided walks through Meena tribe villages, meeting locals, schools, and tasting chai and chutneys.
Nature on foot: Elephant-led walking safaris in private scrub forest to spot wildlife like peacocks, jackals, and birds.
Wilderness living: Relax by a natural pool, around bonfires, evening folk performances, and unwind under the stars.
The Singh family restored the land, avoided commercial development, and now steward wildlife and local economies, supporting village schools and employing local staff. Guests partake in a positive-impact hospitality model where tourism funds elephant care and local wellbeing.
By air: Jaipur International Airport (~30 min / 15 km).
By rail/road: Jaipur railway station (~30 min), then a scenic drive. The camp arranges private transfers.
