Day 2 - Udaipur

Udaipur – Romance of the Rajasthan Royals

Awaken to the enchanting landscapes of Rajasthan as the Maharajas’ Express rolls into Udaipur, the jewel of Mewar and one of the most romantic cities in India. Often referred to as the Venice of the East, Udaipur is famed for its ethereal palaces, shimmering lakes, and royal heritage.

After breakfast, disembark for a guided sightseeing tour of the grand City Palace complex, perched majestically on the banks of Lake Pichola. Built over several centuries by successive rulers of Mewar, this sprawling palace complex is a stunning fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles.

Next, proceed to the jetty for a scenic boat ride on Lake Pichola, one of Udaipur's most iconic and picturesque experiences. Glide across the tranquil waters surrounded by hills and ghats, passing by the Jag Mandir and Jag Niwas (now the Taj Lake Palace) — a vision of white marble floating in the lake, once the summer retreat of the Maharanas of Udaipur.

Post-lunch, return to the train for a leisurely evening.

Dinner and overnight stay on board the train.

Day 3 - Jodhpur

Jodhpur – Tales of Valor in the Sun City

As the first light of day illuminates the golden sands of Rajasthan, the Maharajas’ Express pulls into the historic city of Jodhpur, also known as the Sun City for its bright, sunny weather all year round. Cradled on the edge of the Thar Desert, Jodhpur is a tapestry of vibrant blue houses, majestic forts, and centuries-old traditions.

Morning at leisure, or optionally, you may embark on a tour to Bishnoi Village or a spa session at a leading hotel in the city.

Lunch will be served on board. Following lunch, proceed to explore the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort, one of the largest and most awe-inspiring forts in India. Rising dramatically from a rocky hill, this 15th-century fortress offers panoramic views of the “Blue City” below. Inside, explore lavish courtyards, palatial rooms, and royal galleries showcasing weapons, costumes, paintings, and palanquins.

Choose to leave on a walking tour of the Old Clock Tower Market. End the day with a lavish dinner arranged at an exclusive venue.

Return to the train for an overnight stay as the train proceeds to Bikaner.

Day 4 - Bikaner

Bikaner – Desert Vistas and Regal Grandeur

As dawn breaks, the Maharajas’ Express rolls into the vibrant desert city of Bikaner, once a flourishing trade centre on the ancient Silk Route. Known for its grand palaces, richly sculpted temples, and camel culture, Bikaner is a gateway into the untamed beauty of the Thar Desert.

Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast aboard the Maharajas’ Express. Sip on freshly brewed coffee or masala chai while enjoying the serene desert views from your cabin window.

Later, enjoy a gourmet lunch on board, where the chefs continue to surprise and delight with a blend of Rajasthani flavours and global cuisines, served with elegance and royal flair.

Post lunch, disembark for a guided tour of the formidable Junagarh Fort, a rare example of a fort that was never conquered. Built in the 16th century by Raja Rai Singh, this architectural marvel stands in stark contrast to the typical hilltop forts of Rajasthan — instead, it rises proudly from the desert floor, encased by massive sandstone walls.

As twilight descends, brace yourself for an unforgettable excursion into the desert sands. You’ll be driven to the outskirts of Bikaner, where golden sand dunes await, creating a surreal backdrop for an evening of entertainment and culinary delights.

Feast on an exclusive barbecue dinner, and then return to the luxurious cocoon of the Maharajas’ Express. As you settle into your cabin, the train gently departs Bikaner, charting a course toward Jaipur, the majestic Pink City.

Overnight stay on board the Maharajas’ Express.

Day 5 - Jaipur

After a delightful breakfast on board the Maharajas’ Express, disembark for an unforgettable visit to the majestic Amber Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site nestled in the rugged hills outside Jaipur. Built from red sandstone and white marble, the fort showcases an exquisite blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. Ride up to the fort like royalty—either by jeep or on a decorated elephant—and explore its magnificent palaces, mirrored halls, lush courtyards, and intricate frescoes. Key highlights include the Sheesh Mahal (Hall of Mirrors), Diwan-i-Aam (Hall of Public Audience), and Ganesh Pol, the ornate gate that sets the tone for the grandeur within. Soak in panoramic views of Maota Lake and the surrounding Aravalli hills.

Return to the comforts of the Maharajas’ Express, where lunch is served in one of the luxurious onboard restaurants. Post-lunch, choose to enjoy the luxuries the train is reputed for.

Dinner at an exclusive venue.

Get back on board for an overnight stay as the Maharajas Express rolls towards Sawai Madhopur.

Day 6 - Ranthambore

Begin your day with an early morning adventure into the wild as you set out on a jeep safari through Ranthambore National Park—one of India’s premier wildlife reserves. Known for its population of Royal Bengal Tigers, the park offers a thrilling opportunity to spot these majestic predators in their natural habitat. The safari also gives you a chance to witness a variety of wildlife, including leopards, sloth bears, marsh crocodiles, sambar deer, and over 250 species of birds. The ruins of ancient temples and palaces scattered within the park add a unique historical charm to the experience.

After your safari, return to the luxury of the Maharajas’ Express, where a lavish breakfast awaits. As the train traverses through the scenic countryside, take some time to relax.

After Lunch, arrive at the mystical, red sandstone city of Fatehpur Sikri, a stunning example of Mughal architecture and urban planning. Built by Emperor Akbar in the late 16th century and later abandoned, the city remains remarkably well preserved and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Return to the Maharajas’ Express, where a gourmet dinner awaits in one of the train’s opulent restaurants. The train rolls onward through the night, heading toward your next magical destination.

Day 7 - Agra

Early morning on the last day of the sojourn, pay a visit to the grand structure, the Taj Mahal. Pride of India, the Taj Mahal, is also recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Later, you can take delight in a lavish breakfast at an exclusive venue. While you treat yourself to a grand lunch aboard the Maharajas’ Express, the train will traverse back to Delhi to mark the end of the voyage aboard this Indian luxury train.
