Day 1 - Delhi

Welcome to your Deccan Odyssey tour! Assemble at Delhi Railway Station, from where the royal journey will commence.

Settle in your designated cabin after welcome drinks are served, and trains move forward to the first destination, Sawai Madhopur. Dinner & overnight stay in Deccan Odyssey.

Day 2 - Ranthambore

Khamma Ghani! Welcome to Rajasthan! As the Deccan Odyssey gracefully rolls into Sawai Madhopur, get ready to embrace the wild side of Rajasthan. This region is not only steeped in Rajput history but is also globally renowned as the gateway to the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve – one of India’s premier wildlife destinations.

After early morning tea and snacks, head out for a jungle safari tour at 6:00 am. Ranthambore National Park is one of the finest tiger reserves in India. It is in every sense a perfect place for wildlife photography. Ranthambore Tiger Reserve was once the private hunting grounds of the Maharajas of Jaipur. Spread over 1,300 sq. km, this stunning park is framed by the Aravalli and Vindhya hill ranges, and dotted with ancient ruins, tranquil lakes, and thick forests.

Experience a thrilling jungle safari and spot animals in the wild. Later, go for a village safari tour for an authentic experience and witness the locales of Sawai Madhopur.

As the sun sets over the golden landscape, return to the luxurious comfort of the Deccan Odyssey. Freshen up and gather for a lavish onboard dinner, featuring regional Rajasthani delicacies and continental options curated by expert chefs.

Day 3 - Jaipur

Welcome to Jaipur – The Royal Pink City of Rajasthan

Today, the Deccan Odyssey arrives in Jaipur, the vibrant capital of Rajasthan, fondly known as the Pink City. Painted in hues of terracotta pink as a symbol of hospitality for the visit of Prince Albert in 1876, the city is a fine blend of royal heritage, architectural brilliance, and rich cultural traditions.

Founded in 1727 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, Jaipur was the first planned city of India, with wide boulevards, geometric city planning, and a deep sense of order influenced by ancient Hindu architecture.

Visit the grand Amer Fort (or Amber Fort) (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). It is the principal tourist attraction in Jaipur, and the current structure was built during the late 16th century by Rajput Kings. Afterwards, visit the City Palace. A complex of courtyards, gardens, and buildings, the impressive City Palace is right in the centre of the Old City. Then visit Jantar Mantar (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), which is a collection of nineteen architectural astronomical instruments, built by the Rajput king Sawai Jai Singh, and completed in 1738 CE.

Visit the historic heritage sites of Jaipur - Hawa Mahal ("Palace of Winds" - a high screen wall built so the women of the royal household could observe street festivals while unseen from the outside)

In the evening, enjoy a guided walk tour of the famous Pink City markets. Jaipur is also known as the shopper’s paradise. Jaipur's colourful markets offer a great break to stop and shop on your tour. Take in the glint and sparkle of the rows of shops selling hand-crafted bangles and other decorative items. While moving through the markets, you will come across the vivacious culture of this region. 

As the day winds down, return to the comfort and luxury of the Deccan Odyssey. Freshen up and enjoy a delectable dinner on board.

Day 4 - Agra

Welcome to Agra – The Timeless City of Love

Start your day with a scrumptious breakfast served onboard the Deccan Odyssey, as the train pulls into Agra, the romantic heart of Uttar Pradesh. Known worldwide as the City of Love, Agra is home to some of the most iconic symbols of India's rich Mughal heritage and architectural brilliance.

Agra once served as the capital of the mighty Mughal Empire and is a treasure trove of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, intricate artistry, and timeless tales of devotion and power.

Your sightseeing tour begins with a visit to the Taj Mahal, a monument that needs no introduction. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in the 17th century in memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal, this white-marble mausoleum is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Capture postcard-perfect photos and take a quiet moment to reflect on the eternal love that inspired this architectural masterpiece.

Next, visit the imposing Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most significant forts in India. Built by Emperor Akbar in red sandstone and later embellished by Shah Jahan, the fort offers insights into Mughal military might, opulence, and architecture. From its ramparts, enjoy stunning views of the Taj Mahal, set against the skyline of Agra.

Day 5 - Gwalior

Discover the Royal Heritage of Gwalior & Orchha

Wake up to a freshly prepared breakfast onboard the Deccan Odyssey, as the train arrives in Gwalior, one of Madhya Pradesh’s most historic and culturally significant cities. Known for its towering forts, ancient temples, and royal legacy, Gwalior has long been a seat of power, art, and music.

Your day begins with a visit to the imposing Gwalior Fort, perched atop a sandstone hill that dominates the skyline of the city. Often described as the “Gibraltar of India,” this massive fort has seen centuries of history unfold within its walls, from Rajput kings to Mughal emperors. Enjoy panoramic views of Gwalior city and take in the sheer scale of this legendary fort, steeped in valour and artistry.

Head back to the Deccan Odyssey for a short, comfortable journey to Orchha, a serene riverside town nestled along the Betwa River. Orchha is a hidden gem of Bundelkhand, known for its palaces, cenotaphs, and temples that reflect the glory of the medieval Bundela dynasty.

Disembark to explore the Orchha Fort Complex, a captivating blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture, surrounded by forests and riverbanks. Also, visit some Temples.

Complete your Orchha experience with a visit to a local village. It’s a rare chance to see authentic rural India, untouched by time and modern rush.

Day 6 - Khajuraho

Mystical Temples of Khajuraho: A Journey Through Time

Begin your day with a sumptuous breakfast onboard the Deccan Odyssey, as the train glides into Khajuraho, a tranquil town in Madhya Pradesh, famed for its ancient temples and artistic heritage.

Khajuraho is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to one of the most celebrated groups of medieval Hindu and Jain temples in the world. Built between the 9th and 12th centuries by the Chandela dynasty, these temples are renowned for their exquisite stone carvings, spiritual symbolism, and architectural brilliance.

Disembark for a guided visit to the Western Group of Temples, the most well-preserved and artistically significant section of Khajuraho’s temple complex. Visit the Chandela Temple complex and the Mahadev Temple. These temples are not just architectural marvels but a reflection of the philosophy, spirituality, and aesthetic values of ancient India. Many carvings depict daily life, divine love, and symbolic cosmic union, offering deep insights into the Tantric traditions and human experience.

Day 7 - Varanasi

Day in Varanasi – Sacred Exploration and Spiritual Serenity

Upon your early morning arrival in Varanasi, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on Earth, begin your day with a hearty breakfast on board the Deccan Odyssey.

Once nourished, disembark the train and prepare to dive into the mystical charm of this holy city, known for its timeless spiritual energy and sacred traditions that have endured for thousands of years.

Start exploring Varanasi, one of the planet’s oldest living cities, which houses many ancient temples.

The city is believed to free you from the cycle of birth and rebirth after you die here. Marvel at the magnificent temples and ghats. Watch the sunset as you enjoy a boat ride on the holy Ganga River.

Also, explore the lively Varanasi bazaars, followed by a return to the train. Dinner & overnight stay in Deccan Odyssey.

  • -As the train runs on the tracks of the Indian Railways, the itineraries are subject to change in case of any changes in the routing, etc.
  • -Prices are subject to change in case of any amendment in the routing or other hikes, such as fuel, taxes, etc.
  • -Children below 5 years of age shall be allowed free, subject to sharing a double bed with parents. This is subject to the availability of a double bed at the time of booking.
  • -Presidential Suite can accommodate up to 3 adults or 2 Adults and 2 children (One child up to 5 years of age and a second child up to 12 years of age).
  • -Check-in venue is subject to change with prior intimation.
  • -All arrival and departure timings are approximate and subject to change by the Indian Railways.


Child Policy

  • Deccan Odyssey does accommodate children, but we ask parents to be mindful of the sophisticated adult atmosphere we endeavour to maintain.
  • -One child up to 5 years of age shall be allowed free of cost in the Deluxe Cabin, subject to sharing of double bed with parents. This is subject to the availability of a double bed at the time of booking.
  • -For families, with a child between 6-12 years of age, or, with two children with one child below 5 years and another between 6-12 years, we recommend the Presidential Suite which has a double bed in the bedroom and can be shared with a child below 5 years and a sofa cum bed in the living room which can accommodate the older child. In this case, the child/children will be accommodated free of cost.
  • -In case of two children between 6-12 years of age travelling with their parents, you will have to take 2 cabins. The first child pays 25% of the adult fare, and the second child pays 50% of the adult fare. One of the parents will have to be present with the child/children in the cabin.
  • -Please note that we do not have the facility for interconnecting cabins.
  • -All applicable taxes will be charged extra.
