The 5-night and 6-day tour Jewels of the South allows travellers to explore the cultural heritage and natural beauty of different cities in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala while experiencing a luxury train journey.

The journey commences in Bangalore and takes you to Mysore, where you will explore the majestic Mysore Palace before heading to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Hampi. Then you will reach Tamil Nadu to explore the temples and mansions in Mahabalipuram, Thanjavur, and Chettinad. As your train runs to Kerala, you can explore the colonial city of Fort Kochi and enjoy cruising on the Kerala backwaters in Kumarakom.

The tour starts on Sunday in Garden City, Bangalore, and ends the following Saturday again in Bangalore. You can enjoy a hassle-free journey from one famous destination to another with excellent hospitality and comfortable interiors with modern amenities. Itinerary
Arrival - Bangalore

Bout India services start from Bangalore.

Day 1 - Bangalore

- Receive a warm welcome at Yesvantpur Railway Station at around 8:30 a.m.

- Complete registration and briefing sessions on the train.

- Enjoy lunch onboard.

- Deboard the train at Mysore.

- Visit Mysore Palace at around 3:00 p.m.

- After the excursion, return to the train.

- Complete your dinner on board.

- Continue an overnight journey to reach Hampi.

Day 2 - Kanchipuram

- Breakfast is served onboard as the train arrives at Chengalpattu Railway Station.

- Kanchipuram optional excursion in the morning.

- Lunch is served aboard.

- Visit the monuments in Mahabalipuram.

- A beachfront hotel for dinner.

- Return to the train, which then heads to Thanjavur.

Day 3 - Thanjavur

- Onboard breakfast.

- Deboard at 9:00 a.m.

- As the train travels to Chettinad, lunch is served onboard.

- Visit the Athangudi tile factory and Chettinad mansions.

- After dinner, board the train once more.

- The train continues to Cochin.

Day 4 - Kochi

- Enjoy your delicious breakfast on board.

- Explore Mattancherry Palace in Fort Kochi.

- Witness traditional dance forms of Kerala at an exclusive venue.

- Return to the train and have your lunch.

- In the evening, go for an optional visit to the Chinese Fishing

- Nets and St. Francis Church.

- Complete your dinner on board.

- Continue an overnight journey to reach Kumarakom.

Day 5 - Mararikulam

- Breakfast is served on board.

- With lunch on a houseboat at a posh location.

- Back to the train by evening.

- Onboard dining.

Day 6 - Bangalore

Bid farewell to your co-passengers and deboard the train as your Jewels of the South tour ends, offering you pure delight for the last 6 days.

- Enjoy the breakfast.

- Reach Yeshwanthpur Railway Station, as this magical journey ends in Bangalore.

Tour Inclusions
  • Accommodation in double/twin-bedded cabins with attached bathrooms
  • All meals, soft beverages, house brands of Indian wines, beer, and spirits
  • Butler service, complimentary tea, coffee, and mineral water on board
  • Guided off-train tours are included in the journeys, inclusive of entrance fees, still camera fee, transport, and services of a guide
  • Porter charges at stations
Tour Exclusions
  • Any optional tours as mentioned in the itinerary.
  • Insurance, gratuities, telephone calls, and laundry.
  • Alcoholic beverages (apart from the house brands).
  • Video, film, and professional still camera fees and arrival and departure transfers.
  • International and domestic air tickets.
  • Pre- and post-tour accommodation.
  • Any tour extensions, unless specifically mentioned as part of the journey.
Important Notes
  • -Half fare for children between 5 and 12 years.
  • -Christmas and New Year, being the peak holiday season, call for a 10% surcharge levied on all departures.

 

Child Policy

  • -The Golden Chariot does accommodate children, but we ask parents to be mindful of the sophisticated adult atmosphere we endeavour to maintain.
  • -One child up to 5 years of age shall be allowed free of cost in the Deluxe Cabin, subject to sharing a double bed with parents. This is subject to the availability of a double bed at the time of booking.
  • -For families with a child between 6-12 years of age or with two children, with one child below 5 years and another between 6-12 years, we recommend the Presidential Suite, which has a double bed in the bedroom that can be shared with a child below 5 years and a sofa cum bed in the living room that can accommodate the older child. In this case, the child/children will be accommodated free of cost.
  • -In the case of two children between 6 and 12 years of age travelling with their parents, you will have to take 2 cabins. The first child pays 25% of the adult fare, and the second child pays 50% of the adult fare. One of the parents will have to be present with the child/children in the cabin.
  • -Please note that we do not have the facility for interconnecting cabins.
