Jodhpur is the land of legendary kings, gladiators and royalty. It was founded by Rao Jodha of the Rathore clan in 1459. It is the second-largest city in the western region of Rajasthan. Jodhpur is also one of the major tourist attractions along with Jaisalmer and Bikaner, the three stone-sculptured cities emerging out of Thar (the golden sand desert).

Jodhpur is the land of a fusion of history, art, craft, silent sand dunes, roaring sandstorms, lakes, forts, palaces, folk dance & music, augmenting the art and entrepreneurship in the desert. Ancient forts and monuments, along with colourfully attired people with warm, welcoming hearts, have always been successful in extending their hospitality to the world. Jodhpur is also known as the “Sun City” for its bright, sunny weather year-round.

Mehrangarh Fort is the pride of Jodhpur for its splendid architecture and its rich history. Considered as one of the most formidable and magnificent forts of Rajasthan, Mehrangarh Fort was built by Rao Jodha in the year 1459 CE. The fort is spread over an area of 5 km and is built on a 125 m high hill on the outskirts of Jodhpur city.
