The imperial city of Udaipur is often and rightfully called one of the the most romantic cities of India. It is located on the banks of the Pichola Lake and Fatehsagar Lake. Founded by Maharana Udai Singh II, father of most renowned patriot Maharana Pratap, Udaipur was the capital of Mewar Kingdom.

The magnificent palace was built in the year 1559 by Maharana Udai Singh II and served as the main seat of power, where the Maharanas lived and administered the kingdom from. The Palace now has an assortment of Mahals, courtyards, pavilions, corridors, terraces, rooms and hanging gardens.
