Khimsar

Khimsar village lies in the Nagaur district of Rajasthan state, halfway between Jodhpur and Nagaur on the eastern edge of the Thar Desert. It is popularly known for Khimsar Fort and for experiencing the rural life of people in the desert. The fortress was built in 1523, and the dunes in and around the village are worth visiting. The fort has now been converted into a heritage hotel. In the midst of the sandy dry desert, this village has a water body that is a picturesque oasis. Different birds visit this oasis thus making it much more beautiful. Cherish the experience of walking through the golden sand, lay your head under the starry sky.

Also famous for the Nagaur Festival, Khimsar is ideal for a relaxing weekend getaway in the winter. During the Nagaur Festival, people from far and near come and trade cattle in bulk. Various activities like camel racing, tug-of-war, etc. are also organized.
